Form 3 visit their Mural contribution in Dunbar Harbour

Form 3 visit their Mural contribution in Dunbar Harbour

An invitation from Dunbar Rotary and Dunbar Harbour Trust to create a mural based on the historic harbour and fishing, was taken up by pupils from Form 3. They explored the imagery of the local boats and buildings and also learnt about the kinds of fish and that are commercially landed -  mainly shellfish.

The children created their own collages and then drawings, which were then enlarged and stuck onto board (delivered by two very strong fishermen).

The children then took it in turns to paint their part using acrylics. Finally, the piece was varnished several times to protect it from the elements. They then travelled to the harbour to view their collage in situ and also to admire the other murals on display created by other local schools.

The harbour wall is certainly much brighter now and is well worth a visit.
