U11 Girls’ Hockey V Fettes U11b

Belhaven 3 - Fettes 4

The team arrived at Fettes in good spirits and prepared to play their match. India captained the team today and chose to take the first pass back.  From the start all the girls were determined and put to use our recent skills.  Play was even, both teams having attempts at goal.  Liv made some great saves whilst Daisy put pressure on the Fettes attack with her defending.  A super pass forward made its way to Ottilie who was waiting in the circle and scored the first goal of the game.  Lots of cheers all round as we settled back into the game.  Fettes attack were on the ball quickly and made great use of one of their skilful players and they soon equalised.  By half time Fettes were one goal ahead.

As we began the second half, Willow was on fire - her  best game of the season today making good ground with the ball each time and having shots on goal, Amelia finally took a shot to equalise.  On the back of this goal, Wendy made a good interception and used the width of the pitch well, passing the ball ahead to India. These two girls worked brilliantly the pitch and it was soon time for Wendy to score from a saved shot.  Ahead in the game, the girls began to tire.  Iona made some great tackles in defence and began to move the ball wide rather than down the middle.  Fettes attack were quick to intercept one of our passes and soon equalised.  It was a close game but Fettes just edged ahead in the final few minutes.

Belhaven 3 - Fettes 4

Well done girls – you played your best game today against an evenly matched team.  You used your new skills, passed out wide and put pressure on the attack when needed.  You all gave 100% to the match today as well as making new friends and having fun off the pitch.

Three stars and a wish from this match:
