Girls' Netball: U12 v Strathallan

Girls' Netball: U12 v Strathallan

Strathallan 5 - 12 Belhaven U12s

A team of Form 2 girls made the long trip up to Perth, excited for the start of a netball season that has been a long time coming.

They took no time at all to get into their work, moving the ball swiftly and accurately up the court into the attacking third. Willow finished the move off with an effortless shot to give the girls a deserved lead. Despite solid efforts from the defensive unit, Strath quickly responded with a good goal of their own. Up until midway through the second quarter the game maintained this exchange of goals as both teams attacked with great fluency and finished well. Sophie and Willow shared the scoring as they lead at half time 5 goals to 3.

Victoire and Izzy took a well-deserved rest at half time as they had worked tirelessly in wing attack and wing defence respectively. Lottie and Charlotte took no time at all to get up to speed with what was a fast paced game. They were marshalled and led brilliantly by centre court and captain Alice. As the game stretched, Belhaven worked themselves into numerous attacking positions that Willow and Sophie were only too happy to finish off. Any time that Strath did venture into the Belhaven third they were quickly shut out by the impenetrable defensive duo of Ottie and Louisa. The two of them worked hard to block shots, gather rebounds and intercept wherever an opportunity arose.

Moving into the final quarter, the girls switched positions allowing Izzy to score two goals to add gloss to the final score.

A superb start to the season girls. You have set your bar extremely high and I look forward to watching you develop further. Well done!
