Girls' Rounders: U11 v St. Mary's

Girls' rounders: U11 v St. Mary's

On a beautiful afternoon in Melrose, Belhaven Hill, captained by Sophie, won the toss and elected to field first. Playing the first of two different St Mary’s teams, the Belhaven U11s were eager to play.

Louisa bowled consistently well throughout the match and despite a couple of fumbles and one or two dodgy decisions, the fielders were alert, communicated effectively and managed to get 3 players out.

In bat, it took a while for the U 11 girls to find their mojo although Sophie and Amy produced a couple of superb hits and scored rounders. Well done! The score in this first mini-match was a 6½ - 3 win to St Mary’s.

In the second match the Belhaven fielding continued to improve and then when Belhaven went into bat, the tension began to build. Some unlucky hits resulting in catches and some good fielding by St Mary’s meant that 5 of Belhaven’s players were out by ball 17: Willow managed to score a rounder and two halves, Liv a half rounder and Sophie accumulated a total of 2 rounders and 2 half rounders. Well done. Belhaven won the second mini-match 6½ - 5.

Well done girls. Lets work on fielding, throwing and decision making before our next match.
