Music from Belhaven

Title

MUSIC FROM BELHAVEN

HADDINGTON PARISH CHURCH

For the first time, since they were founded in September 2020, the Belhaven Choristers were able to give a performance out of school.

Covid restrictions had meant performances over the last 12 months or so were very limited, and only in school with no parents or audiences .

Last Saturday afternoon the Choristers and the Pipe Band gave the first in a series of concerts entitled 'Music from Belhaven'.

There was a good sized audience, especially considering the gales and rain.

The Pipe Band performed the popular Scottish traditional pieces such as Highland Cathedral, Castle Dangerous and Teribus. More than half the members making their debut performance with the Pipe Band.

The Choristers performed 14 pieces, ranging from Panis Angelicus and Pie Jesu to You Raise Me Up and Fly Me To The Moon. They also performed great favourites including I Vow To Thee My Country and Jesusalem, and lesser-known works of Flying Free and Somewhere. There was even a brand new composition performed for the first time.

The Choristers now need to don their robes, and get ready for a number of events at Christmas, always a Chorister's busiest time of the year.
