“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
As we reflect on this term, it is a true joy to see the spirit of our Belhaven Hill community in full force. Thanks to the unwavering support and involvement of so many parents, we have been able to host a range of fun and successful events that have brought our community closer together.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and creativity to make these events so special. It is clear that the families of Belhaven Hill School are committed to not only supporting our children’s education but also fostering a strong sense of community spirit. This term’s events have been a wonderful testament to that dedication.
As always, our efforts have achieved multiple goals: raising funds for charity and the PTFA to continue supporting specific Pre-Prep and Prep projects, while also creating lasting friendships and a sense of camaraderie amongst parents, children, and the school teachers and staff.
The highlight of this term was the return of the new and improved Belhaven Hill School horse box, 'The Rumbling Tum', which has been magically transformed into a fully functional catering trailer. This incredible transformation was made possible through the tremendous hard work of Kate Corry and Phil Gray, to whom we are so very grateful. As soon as the horse box was settled on the school grounds, it was put to the test at our first Pre-Prep event of the year: a highly successful hot dog sale! Over 200 delicious homemade hot dogs were gobbled up by excited children and their families, a true testament to the buzz and enthusiasm of the event.
World Book Day was just around the corner and the children gave life to their favourite book characters in the classrooms, the PTFA held a lovely Book Club Exchange over breakfast, where parents were able to gather, discuss, and exchange books—a wonderful way to share ideas and inspire new reading adventures.
The PTFA had not forgotten that the Seniors were due a Movie Night, following the tremendous success of last term’s Pre-Prep and Junior Prep Christmas Movie night – to the delight of the children, the Stade de France took possession of the Music School for a Six Nations Scotand-France special evening, during which mocktails, Franco-Scottish themed food and popcorn were handed over to an enthusiastic crowd of young Scottish (and the occasional French) supporters. Emotions were at their peak but spirits remained high despite the disappointing result for many and the event was loved by all, including the organising team!
Meanwhile throughout the term, parents endeavoured to stay active and engaged, enjoying excellent hockey coaching from Clare Spencer and tennis drills with coach Roddy, thanks to the tireless efforts of Caroline Freeman.
Last but no least, an army of creative, fearless and practical volunteer parents descended on to the sports hall to magically transform it into a Victorian London street corner to support this year’s fantastic Oliver Twist representation!
In a term full of highlights, we have been reminded of the true power of our Belhaven Hill community — the incredible things we can achieve when we come together. We wish you a Happy Easter holidays!
