Boys' Hockey: U11a v Riley

U11a v Riley House

Goal scorers: George Campbell, Pedro Zarraluqui, James Townshend

The game started well with the boys putting plenty of pressure on the opposition from the start. James moved the ball around nicely but was soon noticed by the defence and was closed down quickly from then on. Riley’s last defender was good at getting in the way and stopped a few opportunities on the line. Our long corners left us wanting, the ball was unable to get into the D. Eventually we managed to score on the break which built some momentum on both sides. George started moving wider to receive, providing us more opportunities in the D. A few breaks from the opposition put the pressure on defence and resulted in some scrappy goals. Henry had made a great save, diving to the ball, unfortunately it was picked up by Riley before he could clear it. The half time whistle went with the score sitting at 3-2 to Belhaven Hill.

At half time a few changes were made on both sides. A new player for Riley and some new positions for us. Riley came back a lot stronger. The defence was still pinning down James and had the rest started marking more tightly. The opposition seemed to find more opportunities in the D and kept Henry on his toes. Henry was clearing the ball wide and far but the overload by Riley kept the pressure on and goals were scored.
