Boys' Hockey: U13b v Riley House

U13b Boys’ Hockey:
Narrow loss away to Riley House.

A match which promised much for Belhaven left us ultimately with nothing in a frustrating match.  In the first half we had absolutely no positional sense, nor movement into free space and we paid the price as we shipped five goals, three of which could easily have been avoided.  The other two were skilfully taken individual efforts which would have cut through much better teams.

In response we scored through Louis after some sustained pressure, Louis again from a short-corner and Alexander with a good, firm, low shot to take us into the break 5-3 down.

The second half was a very different affair; we knew where our men were running from and we tracked their runs better and we began to look to space to get the ball rather than being the stationary objects we had been in the first half.  We got a late goal back through Louis’ hat-trick goal but alas it was not enough as despite dominating possession and territory in the second half of the match we came up one goal short.

Man of the Match:   Kit   for keeping the score down in a shambolic first-half.
