Boys' Rugby: U9 v Ardvrecky v’s Ardvreck
Belhaven 8 – 4 Ardvreck
The match started with some strong and accurate passing from Ardvreck. Belhaven had to be patient and alert, ensuring that they took the ball when the opportunity arose. Once Belhaven had the ball they demonstrated their newfound composure, by driving forward whilst keeping their shape. Eventually Eck found a gap along the wing and demonstrated brilliant pace as he scored a try. Not long afterwards, Belhaven were back in possession of the ball, which came out to Sam who ran a diagonal line, managing to bring the ball over the line with a quick burst of pace just before the line. Belhaven were really into their stride now, Eck was quick to pounce on a loose ball, charging two thirds of the pitch at lightning speed to add a third for Belhaven. Ardvreck held the ball patiently after this and were rewarded with a try just before half time. It was still all to play for.
After the break, Belhaven started to exploit the gaps left on the wings to great effect. Oliver added two tries with some blistering pace and agility, whilst Sam demonstrated his manoeuvrability and persistence, adding two more. The final score was 8 tries to 4, a comfortable win for Belhaven. The team should be very pleased with the discipline that they showed on and off the ball, using the width of the pitch to their advantage.
