Cricket
As the days lengthen and temperatures rise, thoughts turn to summer and cricket.
Belhaven Hill has two idyllic cricket fields, both with well-maintained turf wickets; four all-weather practice nets and two indoor nets with a bowling machine - the last of which are invaluable in allowing training to continue through the fickle Scottish summers and in the off-season when we run winter nets.
At Belhaven, kwik-cricket is played by boys at Under 9 level and cricket is played by all boys thereafter.
All boys experience competitive fixtures each cricket season and some of our teams have recorded unbeaten seasons in recent years as well as winning school competitions. Most Wednesdays and Saturdays in the summer term will see teams enjoying matches and parents enjoying the renowned Belhaven Hill match teas.
With girls' cricket growing at such a rate, and proving to be so popular at Belhaven Hill, from 2024 it will be the major sport for girls in the Summer Term with regular fixtures being played.
The cricket season draws to a close with highly competitive single and double-wicket competitions for the senior boys and social matches against the Old Boys and also against the Dads.
There is little to rival the experience of enjoying cricket on a summer's afternoon in the glorious grounds of Belhaven Hill.
