Girls' Hockey: U10b v Loretto

Belhaven Hill 3 - 2 Loretto

It was a cool but dry afternoon and the Belhaven Hill U 10b/U9 team, captained by Amy, was raring to go.

It was a six-a-side match which gave all the players plenty of room to space out (or at least to chase the ball over great distances) and was a well-balanced match with great play from both teams.

Olive was centre forward and she produced some excellent clean hits at each pass back to the very capable midfield line of Amy, Wendy and Amelia.  All four girls showed off their dribbling, dodging and intercepting skills and they all worked tirelessly to maintain possession of the ball. I was particularly impressed by their decision making as they ran ahead into spaces and anticipated the arrival of the ball.  Well done Amy, Amelia and Wendy for some good cross passes. Well done Olive for getting into the right position and scoring 2 (almost 3) lovely goals in the first half.  Loretto also took a couple of opportunities and at half time the score was 2 - 2.

Liv and Iona were a fearless duo in defence, again working well as a pair. Both girls produced some super strong hits and they both worked with real determination to clear the ball from the D. As the match progressed they became braver and started taking it in turns to come forward to tackle the opposition. Well done!

Although a little tired, the Belhaven girls fought on in the second half, defending well and maintaining a strong level of attack. Well done Amelia for scoring the third and winning goal!

The final score was a 3 - 2 win to Belhaven Hill

Well done girls!
