Girls' Hockey: U11a v Fettes

Belhaven 0 – 0 Fettes

What a super display of hockey this afternoon between these two teams.  Davina was captain for the match today and the Belhaven girls were off to a great start.  Some great interceptions of long through passes from Fettes allowed the girls to quickly gain possession and drive the ball up the pitch.  Eliza and Alexandra worked superbly in the circle taking shots on goal, which were saved by the Fettes goalie.  When the ball got to our defensive circle, Poppy and Grace were quick to clear the ball back up the pitch and Hester made some awesome saves!  Alice T defended players well, marking the ball and limiting passes whilst Lucy was able to push the ball forwards where Alice R was ready to link it into Eliza.  By half time the scores were even 0-0.

A quick team talk and the girls were back on the pitch.  Davina linked up with Alexandra and Eliza and the three attackers were desperate for a goal.  Alice R switched to an attacking mid, whilst Alice T dropped to a defending mid.  Once more play switched evenly between the two teams, both eager to score.  Great saves from both team goalies and fantastic all round play resulted in the right scoreline today - a draw.

The girls played their best hockey today.  Every member of the team stayed in position, went to meet every ball and displayed not only great defending skills but also an eagerness to attack the ball. Well done!

News Flash  : I have managed to get one final fixture for the U11a team next week.  They will be playing Loretto at Hallhill, 2.30pm start.  Please do come and support them, if you can, for their final match of the season.
