Girls' Netball: 3rd v St. Mary's Hall
2nd Netball Team v St. Mary's Hall
Belhaven 13 – 18 St. Mary’s Hall
The visitors got off to a strong start scoring three without reply thanks to a strong goal shoot, but the tenacity of Calypso, Ophelia and Amelie building out from defence soon paid off. Lucy C was all over the court, using everything she has been taught about positioning this season to get the ball up to the superb pairing of Romilly as GA and Polly as GS. The girls managed to get a couple of goals back and it was onto the second quarter.
Things were already starting to look tighter and some brilliant goalkeeping from Grace was preventing the visitors getting too many attempts on goal. 9-3 at the half to SMH meant Belhaven had to go all out in the second half of the game and all out they went!
The third quarter was an altogether tighter affair and the girls did brilliantly to keep themselves in the game. Amelie was controlling things in the centre, while Ophelia and Calypso were really getting a grip of the ball in defence and slowing things down.
Into the final quarter and, although SMH started it strongly, Belhaven were determined! Romilly and Polly linked beautifully and everything was going in! It was just a little too late for the seconds at this stage – one more quarter and we might just have got them ... Well played girls!
