Girls Rounders 1st v Ardvreck

Girls' Rounders: 1st v Ardvreck

1st Rounders and Tennis v Ardvreck

Belhaven 17 – Ardvreck 9

Another glorious afternoon saw the girls welcome the team from Ardvreck for matches in rounders and tennis.  Winning the toss today, Petronille wisely chose to field first.  Their first batter played it safe with half a rounder, but an unfortunate backwards hit by their next batter saw Georgie catch out the first player of the game.  Ardvreck found it hard to hit the ball and secured a few half rounders.  Georgie was on great form, communicating with the team, making some good catches at backstop and stumping out at 4th post.  Struggling to score, Bea’s reactions were super quick and with some great fielding stumped out their best batter at second post.

Belhaven then went into bat and again played safe at first.  Eliza started the scores followed by a full rounder from Bea.  Petronille and Georgie soon got their eye in for the ball and placed the ball over the head of the fielders, scoring full rounders from each ball.  By the end of the first inning Belhaven were leading 7 – 3½

Taking to the field again, the communication remained clear and the fielding remained strong. The batting team again found it hard to hit the ball at first and quick fielding between Georgie and Hester, soon saw one of their batters out at first post.  Petronille was next with a super catch, meaning their number one batter was caught out, along with some good catches from Georgie in the last few balls of the game.  The deep fielders remembered to stop and drop and with this, Caroline quickly stumped another player at third post.  Ardvreck finished their innings with a further 5½ rounders.

The Belhaven team got their eye in for the ball from the start of their second batting innings.  Louisa and Robyn added to the first 2 rounders from Petronille  and  Georgie whilst Hester made a very risky run, and was unfortunately out at 4th post.  The girls continued to score and finished the innings having scored a further 10 rounders.

What an improvement since Monday – great teamwork, clear communication and some brilliant fielding.  Well done!
