U12 Girls’ Touch Rugby v Ardvreck

Belhaven 6 – 12  Ardvreck

It was lovely to see so many girls volunteer to take part in the friendly touch rugby fixture against Ardveck on Saturday afternoon.  Despite the freezing temperatures and lack of training sessions, the girls entered into the match with the true Belhaven spirit ‘go, have fun and give something new a go’.  The afternoon was all about having fun and trying a new sport and with last minute additions to the team, all girls managed to play at least 20 mins of the 40 minute match.

The Ardvreck team had a few more training sessions than our girls and were talented at dodging the Belhaven players.  For many of the Belhaven team, this was their first experience of throwing and catching a rugby ball, which is very different to a netball.  Even the skills of the game, passing backwards is not a natural move for them.

The girls entered into the spirit of the game, improved throughout and most importantly had fun!
