U11 Girls' Hockey Season Report
U11 Girls' Hockey
2021 Season Report
The U11 girls may not have had a successful season in terms of winning matches, but they have had a successful one in the way they have picked up new skills and improved match upon match. Most of the team had never played hockey, let alone a match, before the start of the season and so it was a steep learning curve for every one of them.
Once we had found a goalie, and gosh what a super goalie Liv turned out to be, the team positions took place. The defensive duo of Iona and Daisy were fantastic; clearing the ball away when needed and responding well to new drills. The midfield saw Willow and India step into action, or sometimes skip into action for Willow! India's hit became less of a golf swing, whilst Willow switched between running and skipping when dribbling with the ball.
Lily proved to be a great midfield player as well until half term during which she hurt her foot. The attack worked tirelessly, Wendy going for every tackle often against girls almost twice her size, Ottilie was ready in the circle to shoot and Amelia linked between them, improving her stick work, defending the ball, all the time.
The girls have made enormous progress, show-cased in their final match, after which the Loretto coach commented on the noticeable improvement they had made in just 4 weeks. Well done girls - you have been great fun to work with this term.
Amelia player of the season. Willow most improved player.
