School Buses

On weekdays, we run a minibus service, morning and evening from Haddington and North Berwick, with Berwick-upon-Tweed and Grantshouse to be added soon. On Saturdays, for Form 4 upwards, parents drop off and collect their children.  The school will consider further bus routes if there is sufficient interest in that area.  Bus timetables can be found here.

For exeats and holidays, we have 3 buses to Perth, Stonehaven and Dumfries. Although the buses follow specific routes, we try to be as flexible as we can with pick-up and drop-off points. Weekend bus timetables can be found here.

By Train

Dunbar train station is a 10 minute walk and is on the main London King’s Cross – Edinburgh East Coast trainline.  Many trains stop both north and southbound between the two capital cities and the full journey takes an average of 4 hours 30 minutes.

Approximate journey times to Dunbar station: Edinburgh Waverley – 20 minutes; Newcastle – 60 minutes; York – 2 hours. Collection from and drop off at the station can be organised. Depending on the ages of the children, the school can arrange for an adult to accompany the children on the train.

By Air

Belhaven welcomes children from all over Europe and beyond.  Edinburgh Airport is 40 minutes by car – direct flights are available to various British and Irish airports as well as to many major cities in France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, the United States and the UAE.  By car, Newcastle Airport is 1 hour 50 minutes and Glasgow Airport is 1 hour 30 minutes.

The school has a preferred taxi company whose friendly drivers are PVG checked and are able to take the children directly to the airline staff (for those airlines which operate an unaccompanied minor service).  Alternatively, they will be delighted to meet all children in the Arrivals Hall at either Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle airports.
